There’s been lots of talk about moving from the Chinese Year of the Snake to the incoming Year of the Horse lately. The last chance to shed any “old skin” you no longer want in your life, tidying up loose ends, saying good bye to things that no longer serve you etc etc. All this is required to ‘birth’ the new dynamics. This energy is very real and it is also reflected in mundane & natal astrology.
We are in a pivotal time, astrologically speaking, with many major transits, sign shifts and planetary dances going on and the tension is palpable. Recent global events mirror all this perfectly. However, I’m not a politician and know far too little about world politics to comment further! What I do know and can draw on are my own personal experiences, observations and knowledge. So, while the 6 o’clock news is not for the faint-hearted right now, let me try to put into context how I feel about the planetary movements of late.
First, back to the past. Operation Desert Storm occurred under a Capricorn line up of the outer planets Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in January/February 1991. Those of us old enough to remember will know that was a terrifying time but lead to the liberation of Kuwait. Again, I won’t comment further on the politics of it all or any similarities to current world events. However, I have mentioned it as many of you may be feeling you are currently experiencing an internal war. Capricorn line ups will do that. No need to suddenly think you can race out and invade or defend a country & save the world but you need to look at more internal, personal issues. It will make you take a long, hard look at yourself, fight old demons and sink to the lowest of lows but it is also an opportunity to rise above it all and to liberate your Soul.
As we enter 2026 & leave the Year of the Snake, we have a wee line up of personal planets in Capricorn – Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Sun – just to give that final push after such a long and difficult labour or skin shedding! These affect us on a personal level and, depending on where Capricorn falls in your chart, can be quite challenging but necessary. There may be dangerous and angry thoughts that can lead to rash ‘Fuk you’ types of decisions. You may find old comforts & patterns of being are trying to resist the rebirth. It’s all just a little bit too hard to change! Way easier just to remain in the familiar patterns – hurtful or not. It’s so much easier to have the “Fuk you, fuk everything’ attitude and run for the hills!
Until you hit the Wall. Hello, Wall, my old friend! Aaaahhhh, peace, quiet, solitude! Can I just hide here? It’s way too scary out there and I don’t wanna people anymore!
Great! Do that! If you want! But it’s not ideal. One day you will realise that Wall is not your best friend or your best work! I know Wall is familiar and comforting but Wall also holds you back from your true potential, love, peace of mind, joy and all the good things your Soul craves.
Can I please encourage you all to channel your inner Jon Snow & venture beyond the Wall! Bust that Wall down! You don’t need it anymore and now is the time to plan for the future you want. Capricorn says to plan constructively, use all your available resources, reach out for help, call the midwife!!! You don’t have to do it alone as there are support systems and networks in place already. It will be a slow, steady process but will lead to some amazing breakthroughs in your life. Liberation only comes after great effort and with firm boundaries set in place.
The first New Moon of 2026 is at 28 degrees Capricorn at 0852hrs, Monday 19 January. Perfect. Goody. Let’s do this. Expel the afterbirth. Plan for your liberation. Set goals. Reach out for help. It's all there waiting for you. Capricorn is wise, reliable and steady. The Universe will support you.
